User Community

Resources for users in the Biological Nanostructures Facility.

The Staff are committed to fostering a collaborative scientific environment in our facility. Below are groups and committees that users can join to promote our community.

Every month The staff along with users plan a monthly social event to celebrate. If you would like, you can participate by adding your name to the list.

The UEC was established to represent and serve all members of The Molecular Foundry’s User community, including current and prospective users. Their goals are to provide a channel of communication between TMF users and management; to represent Foundry users when the Department of Energy solicits feedback from members of its National User Facilities. The UEC is responsible for many events and encourages any user to participate or become a committee memeber:

  • Organizing an annual User Meeting, usually in early October, attended by the user community, Foundry staff, and DOE officials, where technical talks highlight user projects, new facilities and capabilities are discussed, and a town hall meeting is held.
  • Organizing a bimonthly User Seminar Series with short technical talks on highlighted user projects and discussion of user issues.
  • Holding discussions specifically targeted to improving access to The Molecular Foundry by industrial users.
  • Participating in National User Facility Organization events to compare notes with other facilities and learn about new ways to help user programs succeed.

From the Berkeley Lab website for diversity and inclusion:

Berkeley Lab has a tradition of multidisciplinary teams working together to bring science solutions to the world. Fostering a diverse workforce—in experience, perspective and background—and culture of inclusion are key to attracting and engaging the brightest minds and furthering our record of scientific excellence and groundbreaking innovations.

At the Molecular Foundry we follow in Berkeley Lab's tradition of collaboration and inclusiveness. The Foundry has a its own Diversity and Inclusion committee to foster an open work environment. You can send your suggestions, questions, comments, and concerns to all members of the D&I committee using the following email address: mf-di@lbl.gov.
